Term Position (9-12 Months)

This is a Term Position, expected to last between 9 and 12 months; may lead to longer term employment.

Overview: Kegman Inc. is seeking a qualified Communications Technician to provide support to the United Launch Alliance (ULA) as described in the core duties/responsibilities below.

Location: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS), Florida. CCAFS is an installation of the United States Air Force Space Command’s 45th Space Wing, headquartered at nearby Patrick Air Force Base. Located on Cape Canaveral in the state of Florida, CCAFS is the primary launch head of America’s Eastern Range with four launch pads currently active.

Responsibilities:

Work with minimal to no supervision in space launch site environment. Interface with customer daily. Good communication between fellow team members and the customer daily (verbally and at times, written – documentation) is crucial. Prompt, courteous and communicative team player desired. Use a personal computer (PC) for basic tasks (timecard, email and occasional documentation etc.) including standard web browsers and Microsoft Office software.

Proficient in several competencies relevant to the job: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, integrate, and repair digital voice, closed-circuit television (CCTV), high speed video cameras, public address (PA), timing, phone systems, network associated hardware, professional audio-visual equipment and video conferencing, multimedia, control and interactive systems.

Use basic copper/fiber test and termination equipment. Terminate and fuse single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable. Terminate various copper cables utilizing common connector types using solder, crimp or wire wrap methods as applicable. Cable installation (copper or fiber) is performed in various places including, sub floors, in walls, in cable trays, in drop ceilings, in chase-ways. Install equipment in racks and on walls. Install cabling (copper/fiber) in drop ceilings, under floors etc. with attention to detail a priority. Use schematic diagrams and performs testing and documentation related tasks.

Use standard hand and power tools.

Climb towers up to 200 feet high on launch complex.

Work in enclosed/confined spaces.

Experience/Education – Must show evidence of prior experience, certification, and education:

6-10 years of prior experience. Minimum High School Diploma required. Specialized programs in communications from vocational or technical schools desired. Prior Military experience can be substituted for vocational or technical schools.

Security Requirements—the successful candidate must:

Be a U.S. Citizen.

Pass a Drug test.

Pass at a minimum a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and get a CCAFS badge.

Safety requirements—the successful candidate must:

Be in good physical condition and be willing to be certified and/or trained for climbing (climbing of camera towers or working at heights up to 200 feet on launch complex).

Have a working understanding of safe workplace procedures including; lock-out/tag-out, confined spaces, CPR/First Aide and Buddy Care, safe handling of hazardous chemical, tower climbing, electrical safety, blood-borne pathogens, slips-trips and falls prevention, working at heights, and other mandated safety requirements and procedures).

Other Job Attributes

Use of personal vehicle on the job may be required. Employees will be reimbursed monthly at the current government mandated mileage rate for on-station travel (on CCAFS) in support of direct task assignments.

Safety training and safety equipment (climbing equipment, safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, and other appropriate safety equipment) will be provided by the company
